How to online shop during the coronavirus

With many states under “stay-at-home” orders due to the coronavirus, there’s a good chance you’re doing most of your shopping online. Here are some things to keep in mind to make sure you’re shopping smartly.

Be Mindful
Just because you can shop online, doesn’t mean you should. It can be tempting to buy things just for something to look forward to, but try not to go that route. Be mindful of your spending. Are you buying things you need or buying things you want? Don’t let the latter ruin your budget.

Support Local
If you are going to shop online, consider local retailers first. Sure, Amazon is easy. But Amazon is going to be just fine after this crisis. That store down the block might not make it without your support. Send your money to local retailers if you can. They’ll thank you one day.

Keep Your Budget
If you find that your budget is hurting during this crisis, online shopping could be the culprit. Go through your online statements and see where your money is going. If your online shopping has ballooned for no real reason, it’s time to curb your spending. This crisis will end one day, and you don’t want to find yourself in debt or without savings when it does.
