New England winters are not for the faint of heart. Freezing temperatures and lots of snow can make staying inside and bundling up seem like the only option - especially when you are on a budget. However, if the idea of being stuck at home all winter makes you go stir crazy, we’ve got you covered. Here are some of our favorite winter activities that don’t break the bank:
Host a movie or game night. Invite your friends, make some popcorn, put on a favorite flick or play some board games.
Have a snow day! If you live in New England, snow is inevitable, so why not make the most of it? Grab your family or friends, bundle up and get outside! Make a snowman, have a snowball fight, go sledding, or just for a walk. The fresh air and physical activity will get the blood flowing and make the winter months much more enjoyable.
Check out local events. Chances are, your town and/or neighboring towns will likely be hosting winter events. The best part about these? They are typically free! Check your town’s newspaper and/or event pages for an updated list of events near you.
Volunteer. Volunteer your time at a food pantry, retirement home or your local animal rescue shelter. Not only will volunteering make you feel good, but the impact it can have on those around you will be greater than you know.
Winter can be a magical time if you are open to seeing the beauty. Gather your loved ones and make the most of it - you won’t regret it.
